Our History
Golden Horizons Retirement Residences was born from a vision by Lucy Jeffrey to create a purpose-built retirement community for snowbirds and individuals living in colder climates. The idea emerged in 2023, when Lucy began spending part of her winters in Kenya after relocating from Canada. Experiencing firsthand the country’s favorable climate, natural lifestyle, and affordability, she recognized a significant gap in the market — the absence of structured, Western-style 55+ retirement communities designed for comfort, security, and community living.
In 2026, Lucy partnered with six founding investors to formally establish Golden Horizons Retirement Communities. Together, they became co-founders and Executive Directors, bringing diverse expertise across finance, legal, engineering, hospitality, and international markets. The founding team subsequently invited additional investors to participate as shareholders, creating a strong and scalable ownership structure. This collaborative approach laid the foundation for a reputable, well-governed organization built on shared vision, professional leadership, and long-term value creation.
